Day 60 - The First Sale
After a few exhausting weeks of walking the streets of downtown, making cold calls and countless emails I was able to schedule a follow up meeting with a bar owner who I had met with previously and had already purchased a “system”. It became quite clear to the owner that the system had several limitations and was not going to be the solution. The system that monitors pouring did not monitor the stock room and the possibility of full bottles going out the door......but BEVINCO does! That fact alone and the thought of having a reliable third party performing the audits on a timely basis made BEVINCO the easy choice. Although I didn’t get the opportunity to really give my presentation, or use some of the approaches I observed in a new sales training video or the advice of my good friend Tom Hopkins (author of “Selling for Dummies”)......I look forward to my next opportunity where I can give them a shot.

Thanks for putting the time in on this Shannon. I have been following your progress. So I assume you got this sale and are performing the audits for this one? And does it really take 60 days to get a single sale? Please keep the updates coming.
ReplyDeleteHi Paul, thanks for following my blog! Does it really take 60 days to make a sale? Probably not. I think every market is different, and my market/city is very conservative in many aspects which I knew going in. Although it wasn't really 60 days of hitting the streets. The clock started the day I signed with BEVINCO which was followed by nearly 3 weeks of in-class and in-bar training. Following my training, I spent a couple of weeks getting to know my 4 existing clients that came with my territory and shadowing my employee that previously worked for the Global office. I think if you make an effort of contacting 4 bar owners a day the sales will come naturally....I hope for a 10% success rate.
